Bangaluru Intern Skips Office, Tells Boss: "My AI Startup Got Funded, I Don't Need This Internship Anymore"

In a classic Bengaluru moment, an intern quit his job at a tech company after his Al startup received funding. Karthik Sridharan, CEO of Flexiple, shared a screenshot of their conversation on X that sparked mixed reactions.

Sridharan had messaged the intern on WhatsApp to ask why he missed work on Friday. The intern replied, he had taken the day off to meet with a venture capitalist. He then dropped the news that his Al startup had been funded and he no longer needed the internship.

"Hey, sorry I took a leave because I had a meeting with a VC. My Al startup got funded. I don't need the internship anymore," the intern informed Sridharan. "This only happens in Bangalore," Sridharan commented while sharing the screenshot.

Social media responses ranged from admiration to criticism. Some praised the intern for securing funding, while others found his departure unprofessional.

"Glad for the kid! Just hope someone guides him to improve his communication skills," commented Scaler co-founder Abhimanyu Saxena.

"I think this is disrespectful but understandable," remarked one user, while another said, "Basic communication skills and respect are still necessary."

One user joked, "I guess that internship was just the warm-up!" while another simply said: "Just Bengaluru things."
